Emily and Brittany.

Q1. Write a suitable comment to this.
Today we found out that in acids and bases, natural indicators change different colours.

Q2. Which of the four indicators was best? Why?
We thought that the best indicators were beetroot and cabbage, because they made the acids and bases turn the coolest colours. they looked pretty.

Q3.Can you think of any other substances that might be natural indicators? If so explain why you think they would work?
blueberries and strawberries, because their juice would make pretty colours.

Acid and Base

September 14, 2010

We did this prac today. you had to either boil cabbage or flower petals.(i chose the flower!). i had to get 12 test tubes and separate them into 3 groups of 4. we put acid in one group, distilled water in the next and base in the last group. we had to put beetroot juice, flower petal juice, cabbage and tumeric in one test tube in each group. i recorded the results and it shows that the base was the only one that changed colour dramatically in all of the test tubes.
